These include siica, sodium bicarbonate, pumice alumina, polythene. Most toothpastes are harmless and unlikely to cause damage to teeth. But if heavy pressure is used when cleaning your teeth can cause damage. If you think you might be using too much pressure ask your dentist. These include\u00a0Sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium stearyl lactate, amine fluoride<\/li>\n<li>Thickeners: Help keep the toothpaste together. These include\u00a0Carbopols, xanthan gum, sodium alginate, carrageenan, guar gum, silica<\/li>\n<li>Anti-calculus: Help control plaque that has turned into crystals. These include\u00a0Pyrophosphates, methyl vinyl ether + maleic anhydride<\/li>\n<li>Humectants: Help keep the toothpaste moist with a smooth texture. These include\u00a0Glycerol, sorbitol, water, xylitol, PEG 8<\/li>\n<li>Preservatives: Help keep the toothpaste fresh. These include:\u00a0Polyaminopropyl biguanide, formaldehyde, methylparabens, alcohols, benzoic acid, phenolics<\/li>\n<li>Flavours &#8211;\u00a0Mint, vanilla, wintergreen, fennel, clove oil, aniseed<\/li>\n<li>Sweeteners &#8211;\u00a0Saccharine, aspartame, sorbitol<\/li>\n<li>Colours &#8211;\u00a0Chlorophyll, titanium dioxide<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<em>Sanz M, Serrano J, Iniesta M, Santa Cruz I, Herrera D.
